Traffic Closures Begin Thursday Night In Downtown Miami For The Ultra Music Festival

Downtown Miami will be turning into gridlock central soon as cops prepare for the annual Ultra Music Festival.

You'll probably want to avoid downtown all together starting at 9pm Thursday night.

That's when cops will be putting up road blocks and detours for traffic along Biscayne Boulevard.

Most of the traffic will be rerouted and funneled into NE 4th Street.

Miami Police Spokesperson Frederica Burden says there will be a heavy police presence for the rest of the weekend, including uniform officer, bicycle cops, and undercover cops.

Tens-of-thousands of electronic music-lovers will be flocking to Bayfront Park for the three-day event...

Last year's event had a rough start after an L-E-D screen collapsed on several workers.

The festival is expected to bring in close to $80-million dollars in economic revenue to South Florida.

This is the 16th year for the event.
