Men with stretched-out earlobes are getting surgery because they can't get jobs!

A particular operation to repair earlobes that have been stretched out by the use of plug earrings is increasingly becoming more popularity because these ear guages are making it difficult for men to get jobs.

The Guardian reports that one man, Luke Clark, went through seven fruitless interviews, where he got the feeling prospective employers weren't digging his ear tunnels, before opting for the surgery. Not only are the stretched ear lobes a turn-off for employers, but people have found that some professions, ranging from a soldier in the army to a pro golfer, outright disallow the body modification.

The minor surgery removes the patient's stretched skin before repairing the ear internally then using melt-away stitches on the exterior.

While the operation is a costly £1,800 (roughly $2,800), that's a small figure compared to other notable procedures, like the woman who spent $15,000 on plastic surgery to look better in selfies. The ear repairing surgery is also not nearly as extreme as the "Cinderella" surgery, which, through a series of procedures, reshapes a woman's foot to fit into a pair of "must-have" shoes. Still, this a lesson to consider the possible aftermath before you punch holes in your ears and stretch out to giant proportions.
