Its star Chiwetel Ejiofor also picked up the award for Leading Actor. Despite missing out in the major categories, "Gravity" won in six others. It was named Outstanding British Film, and beat out the competition to win Original Film Music, Special Visual Effects, Sound, and Cinematography. Alfonso Cuaron was also named Best Director.

"American Hustle" won Best Original Screenplay, and though she wasn't in London to accept, Jennifer Lawrence won for her supporting role. Cate Blanchett picked up the award for Lead Actress for her role in "Blue Jasmine." Variety.com says she dedicated the award to her late friend actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman, thanking him for raising the bar. BAFTA gave Hoffman a special tribute, and also remembered the late Peter O'Toole and Shirley Temple. Other winners at the BAFTAs included the films, "Philomena," Disney's "Frozen," "The Great Gatsby" and "Rush," and Dame Helen Mirren accepted the awards' special Fellowship prize.
