Amanda Bynes cops a plea in DUI case, avoids jail

(Yahoo!) - 2014 is looking like it could be Amanda Bynes's year.

The former Nickelodeon star will not go to jail stemming from her DUI arrest, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office tells Yahoo.

Bynes, 27, has pleaded no contest to one count of "wet reckless," a less serious charge than the DUI originally filed against the actress after a collision with a West Hollywood patrol car in April 2012.

In exchange for the plea — which was entered by her attorney on her behalf — Amanda was sentenced to three years probation and a three-month alcohol education class.

"Wet reckless" is one of the lowest offenses prosecutors can allow a suspect to plea in a DUI case.

Last year, Bynes entered a psychiatric treatment facility following a string of run-ins with the law. She was released from an inpatient treatment facility in December. Amanda's mother, Lynn, was granted conservatorship of the actress turned student.

Bynes has been attending college classes in design at FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) in Irvine, California.

Just last week, Amanda's attorney told People that she was "doing great."

Looks like her road to recovery is going well!
